01 / The opportunity

A different role
for marine resources.

OceanPlate explored a biodegradable plate concept made from seaweed and natural materials.

Developed for DTU’s Green Challenge, the project investigated how marine resources and waste materials could become a functional product concept.

Together with my project team, I helped connect material experimentation with product development, physical prototyping and the way the concept was presented.

02 / Exploration & development

Material thinking.
Product thinking.

Working with seaweed and natural materials gave the team a starting point for experimentation. Physical prototyping brought the idea into the form of a plate.

The work extended beyond the object. Branding and business considerations helped us explore how an early concept could be communicated and developed further, including questions around future production.

The result was a tangible prototype that brought these different parts of product development together.

03 / Project context

From resource
to shared idea.

The project combined hands-on material work with team collaboration and presentation at DTU Green Challenge. The prototype made the material idea tangible and gave the team a way to communicate the concept.

04 / Outcome & reflection

An idea becomes
something you can hold.

The experience strengthened my understanding of experimental product development.

Turning an early material idea into a physical prototype meant connecting experimentation, product form, collaboration and business considerations.

The work presented here is an early-stage prototype. It does not establish validated biodegradation performance, environmental certification or commercial scalability.
